Tillakaratne Dilshan Names His Best ODI XI, Includes The Deadly Spin Duo Of Shane Warne And Muttiah Muralitharan

Sri Lanka’s former star opening batsman, Tillakaratne Dilshan has named his best ODI XI of all-time. Dilshan’s team has legends of the game in abundance. He himself, has been not short of a legendary figure in the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) circuit.

Dilshan is one of the finest batsmen to have graced the world cricket. He had the opportunity of playing with some of the greats of the game during his stint in international cricket for the Island nation. Not only his Lankan teammates, but Tillakaratne Dilshan had the honour of playing international cricket during such an era when competitiveness was at its peak.

Dilshan has now paid homage to the superstars of cricket along with whom he survived on the international stage by adding them to his best ODI XI.

Tillakaratne Dilshan Picks His Best ODI XI

Dilshan went with his former teammate, Sanath Jayasuriya to open the proceedings for his ODI XI. Alongside him is someone who is inevitable in every best team in world cricket so far, the master-blaster from India, Sachin Tendulkar. At number 3, Tillakaratne Dilshan went for the legendary West Indian, Brian Lara. Dilshan added more firepower in his middle-order by adding his former skipper, Mahela Jayawardene in his best XI.

Dilshan then went on to add former Australian legendary skipper, Ricky Ponting. Dilshan also named Ponting the captain of the team. Jacques Kallis was supposed to be the apparent all-rounder in the team due to his exceptional ability with the bat and ball. Dilshan then went ahead with Mr. 30 degree of world cricket, AB de Villiers and named him the wicketkeeper of the side.

Tillakaratne Dilshan’s best ODI XI bowling prowess is second to none in world cricket. Dilshan added the legendary pace duo of West Indian legend Courtney Walsh and Pakistani legend, Wasim Akram. To add more sharpness to his bowling attack, Dilshan picked Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan to sum up his ODI XI.

Tillakaratne Dilshan Has Been A Legend Of World Cricket

Dilshan has been one of the greats that Sri Lanka Cricket has ever produced. The flamboyant opener played a total of 89 Test matches wherein he went on to score 5492 runs with 16 centuries and 23 half-centuries at an average of 40.98.

Tillakaratne Dilshan was a prolific white-ball player. The right-hander took to the crease in 330 ODI games for Sri Lanka and bundled up more than 10000 runs in the 50-overs format. He had a wonderful career average of 39.27 in the ODIs, and he smashed 22 tins and 47 half-centuries in one-day cricket.

Dilshan also had the opportunity to represent Sri Lanka in 80 T20I games wherein he scored 1889 runs at an average of 28.19 with one century and 13 half-centuries in the format.
