TNPL 2018: Ravichandran Ashwin to Lead Dindugul Dragons in the 3rd Edition

Team India Test specialist Ravichandran Ashwin will be leading the Dindugul Dragons in the upcoming edition of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).
However, the off-spinner will leave for national commitment only after the first week. He will fly to England for the five-match Test series against Joe Root and co. which starts from 1st August. Meanwhile, the third edition of the TNPL kicks off on July 11.
Well, India will finish their limited-overs tour of England on 17th July. Following the conclusion of the One-day International series.
Moreover, there will be a two-week gap which has been given to the players – to prepare for the much-awaited match Test series.
Ashwin will fly to England along with other Test specialists. In his absence for the rest of the season, N Jagadeesan will take up the captaincy duties of the Dindugul Dragons.

Jagadeeshan was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad which recently won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title of the season eleven under the captaincy of Mahendra Sing Dhoni. He has played nine first-class games, 10 List A, and 13 T20 games till now.
Meanwhile coming back to Ashwin, Dindugul decided to retain Ashwin despite given the fact that they were aware of Ashwin’s national commitments.
Ravichandran Ashwin was unable to play even a single game for his franchise last season due to international commitments.
Karthik and Sundar to miss the majority of TNPL due to international commitments:
Meanwhile, ODI specialist Dinesh Karthik will lead the Karaikudai Kaalai. However, he too will be missing a majority of the tournament. If he is in the Test squad then Karthik could end up missing the whole tournament.
Washington Sundar has been roped in by Tuti Patriots, However, it is the same case with the off-spinner. He will too miss part of the tournament due to international duty. However, he will be available for the back end of the tournament.
There is a huge possibility of the return of Karthik in the Test squad. However, the speculations can only be confirmed if he is selected as the wicket-keeper for the One-off Test against Afghanistan.
Another gloveman Wriddhiman Saha is expected to miss the historic Test due to a finger injury.
