Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) franchise VB Kanchi Veerans finally opened their account in the ongoing third edition of the Twenty20 competition. They face four consecutive defeats in the tournament so far. However, they got their maiden victory against the Lyca Kovai Kings.
The skipper of Kanchi Veerans, Baba Aparjith led his team from the front. So much so, he got handful support from his spinners that gave a 14-run win to Kanchi.
A doubleheader on Sunday (July 29) witnessed both high scoring affair as well as a low scoring one.

However, the match between Kings and Kanchi was a low-scoring affair.
While batting first, Kaanchi Veerans put a below-par score of 116 for the loss of eight wickets. Kanchi did not exactly go according to plans.
They lost opener Siddarth S in the second over. However, K Deeban and Arun S steadied the ship of the team. The duo added a partnership of 36 before Deeban lost his wicket.
Kanchi lost their wickets on the regular intervals and that eventually did not let their skipper play freely.
However, he played till the end and scored with unbeaten 41. Six of their dismissed batsmen could not manage to enter into double figures.

The Lyca Kovai Kings while chasing a low score total set by VB Kanchi Veerans lost their skipper early on. Aushik Srinivas provided the first breakthrough for his team in the ongoing TNPL.
Another opening batsman, Shahrukh Khan, who had good outings could not help his team. He became the victim of the same bowler.
Apart from Ashwin Venkataraman no other batsman could cross the thirty-runs mark. Ashwin scored 35 off 37 deliveries. However, no other batsman could accompany him. As soon as he departed, Kings ran out of the gas. Kanchi went on to complete a comprehensive victory by 14 runs.
