International cricket demands high-quality performance from the teams. The world-class players need to be at the top of their game to beat their opponent as the competition is stiff. There have some really consistent teams over the years who have proved their mettle at the topmost level. They have come up with consistent performances right throughout the course of time.

We at Cricket Addictor take a look at Top 10 teams with most bilateral series wins in ODIs:

10. Zimbabwe – 17

Zimbabwe cricket has sadly gone down the slope in the last decade. Furthermore, they were suspended by the International Cricket Council for government interference. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe had a potent side at one time which had the skills to give run for the money to other teams. The Flower’s brothers, Heath Streak, Neil Johnson, Alastair Campbell were consistent players for the team.

However, the political issues and lack of funding led to the downfall of Zimbabwe cricket. Zimbabwe has won 17 bilateral series and it would be interesting to note when they would play their next.

9. Bangladesh – 25

Bangladesh has taken giant strides in the last five years as they are coming up with consistent performances. The Tigers are ticking the right boxes and they have come a long way in their cricket. Bangladesh can not be taken lightly by any team and they have shown that in their results. The team now has a good batting order and they are giving a tough competition to the best sides in the World.

Bangladesh has thus far won 25 bilateral series in the 50-overs format.

8. Sri Lanka – 42

Sri Lanka’s cricket has gone down the slope in the last four years especially after players like Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara retired. The Sri Lankan cricket hasn’t been able to fill in the big shoes of these veteran players and the results have been fruitless. Prior to 2015, Sri Lanka was always a force to reckon with and their record in ICC events was also good. However, it has been a different story in the last four years.

Sri Lanka has won 42 bilateral series in the ODI format.

7. West Indies – 52

West Indies have been hot and cold with their performance in the recent past. They are a force to reckon with in the T20I format, however, they haven’t been able to come up with consistent renditions in the 50-overs version. They can be brilliant on their day but they can also be mundane on the other.

However, the young talent like Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell is coming well. West Indies have won 52 bilateral series so far in ODI version.

6. New Zealand – 58

New Zealand has always been a side which has punched above their weight in International cricket. The team has come up with consistent performances and they have done a good job. The Kiwis have also made it to the final of the World Cup on two straight occasions. However, they could not cross the last hurdle. They are led by a confident leader in Kane Williamson and the future looks bright.

The Blackcaps have won 58 bilateral series in ODI format.

5. South Africa – 63

South Africa is also one of the consistent sides in the world. However, the Proteas have not been able to come up with their best in the World Cup events. Nevertheless, their performance in the bilateral series has been good over the years. The Rainbow nation has come up with a decent show wherever they have played the game.

South Africa are placed at fifth position with 63 ODI bilateral series wins.

Australia has been the most potent side in the cricket world. They are the most successful when it comes to the World Cup titles as they have won five. Australia is known never to throw in the towel and they will fight till the last wicket or the last ball. They have been the most consistent side in all the three forms of the game. Thus, it was always a difficult job to beat Australia.

Australia has won 65 bilateral series in ODI fold.

3. England – 73

The 2019 World Champions England has the most number of bilateral series wins. England has turned the game upside down in the last four years. They had to face an ignominious exit from 2015 World Cup but since then they have turned the tables with great success. The English side has been ruthless in their approach and their powerful batting line up has delivered the goods for the team more often than not. England has won 73 out of 142 bilateral series in ODI fold.

Pakistan is the most unpredictable side in the world. The Men in Green can be outstanding on one day whereas they can turn pale on the other. In fact, Pakistan’s performance in the last five years hasn’t been up to the mark. Pakistan has a good record because of their quality fast bowling and they had a great side in the past.

Pakistan has won 72 out of 140 bilateral series in ODI format.

In fact, India’s performances in the last decades have improved manifold. Furthermore, they are able to come up with complete performances in the big ICC events.
