Venkatesh Prasad is in the Race for Bowling Coach:

Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has applied for India’s bowling coach job. The 49-year-old had represented India between 1994 and 2001.

The prominent bowler had featured India in 161 ODIs, 33 Tests. Across formats, he had snared 292 wickets.

Prasad had also coached India between 2007 and 2009.

Also, he had served as a bowling coach for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kings XI Punjab.

Mahela Jayawardene Did Not Apply For India’s Head Coach Job: Reports

Reports emerged that former Sri Lanka veteran Mahela Jayawardene has not applied for the post of head coach for Team India.

Earlier, the report suggested that Jayawardene had applied for the head coach’s role.

In the third quarter of the July, the BCCI had asked for fresh applications which saw the board receiving over 2000 applications only for the head coach role.

BCCI Receives Whopping 2000 Applications for the Coaching Staff:

Roughly, within a week, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had received over 2000 applications for the post of the coaching staff. It includes the head coach vacancy apart from the support staff, in particular.

Earlier, on July 24, BCCI has invited fresh applications for the head coach position and support staff.

Recently, the incumbent coach Ravi Shastri had been given an extension for 45 days along with Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R. Sridhar.

Ben Stokes Believes David Warner is a Challenge:

England all-rounder Ben Stokes concedes that David Warner holds a key for Australia in the ongoing Ashes series. He maintained that England needs to tie Warner down in a bid to take control of the things.

Also, he added that Warner is that sort of a player who could take games away from the opposition.

But Warner had struggled in the Ashes opener at Edgbaston. He managed two runs off 14 deliveries as Stuart Broad got his wicket by trapping the southpaw in front of wickets.

Jason Roy’s Comment on His Ashes Debut:

England opener Jason Roy, who has a fifty to his name in his debut Test against Ireland, is happy to partake in the homebound Ashes.

The explosive batsman Roy has expressed his interest to make things count in the traditional series.

“Game day! Incredible feeling to be a part of such history. Excited for what lies ahead #691 #Ashes,” Roy tweeted ahead of the Edgbaston Test against Australia.
