Fielding is an important aspect in the game as bowling and batting. Though the game has seen batsmen and bowlers par excellence, there have been a handful of outstanding fielders as well. Ravindra Jadeja has been an example in the modern-day cricket. During the second ODI at the Adelaide Oval, Jadeja effected a run-out off a direct hit, leaving the Twitter world in shock. Usman Khawaja was the batsmen who fell short of his crease; while Jadeja’s attempt gave India a crucial breakthrough.

Jadeja sends back Khawaja

It was during the 19th over the match when the run-out took place. Shaun Marsh and Usman Khawaja were looking settled in the middle before a direct hit broke the partnership. As Australia had lost two quick wickets in the name of Finch and Alex Carey, the pair had to set up and lay a foundation for the batsmen to follow. Hitting the oddballs for fours and finding singles and doubles at will kept the hosts in the game. Meanwhile, not for long they could carry the momentum.

During Kuldeep’s over, Khawaja tried finding a single by chucking the ball on the off side. Ravindra Jadeja, who was standing at the point didn’t take long before aiming for the stumps first and then hitting the bulls-eye. Though at first go, it seemed Khawaja has reached; but again, in cricket, direct hits have had created problems for the batsmen, always. However, the umpire asked for the review and replays showed Khawaja was short of his crease. He got out on 21 off 23 balls.

Meanwhile, Australia has lost four wickets by the time this article was written. The latest to depart is Peter Handscomb off Jadeja itself, as Dhoni effected the stumping.

However, here are the Twitter reactions to Jadeja’s run-out.
