Twitter Erupts As Mayank Agarwal Registers His Maiden Test Century

Team India have made a solid start in the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam; thanks to the openers – Rohit Sharma and Mayank Agarwal. While Rohit brought his century in the first day, Mayank had to wait till the second day due to rain to get his maiden Test hundred.

Ever since making his Test debut against Australia, Mayank has been rock solid at the top of the order. He has shown the grit and determination needed to find success at the highest level. Mayank Agarwal has fought his way scoring runs consistently to cement his place in the playing XI.

And it was no different in his first Test at home. Although Mayank remained under the shadow of Rohit Sharma but played a stylish knock which will be remembered for long. He dominated the South Africa bowlers right from the onset and complemented Rohit well who scored his first Test hundred as an opener and fourth overall.

After a rain-curtailed opening day where India finished at 202 without losing any wicket, the host started similarly on the second day. Mayank Agarwal was the aggressor this time as he struck a few boundaries to reach the 90’s. In the process, Rohit Sharma and Mayank scaled the highest opening partnership for India and against South Africa.

The Karnataka batsman pushed for a single to complete his maiden Test hundred and looked in extreme joy and celebrates it with hand aloft in the air. Everyone in the dressing room stood up and applauded. The crowd is boisterous as well. In the process, Mayank Agarwal has most runs for India after five Test matches.
