Meanwhile, the opening day of the second Test ended in even stevens with the visitors finishing on 264 for five. The Caribbeans made a strong start with early wickets of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara. Since then, Mayank Agarwal and Virat Kohli consolidated with a solid partnership, the former getting out after reaching his third fifty. Ajinkya Rahane and Kohli also departed after setting their eyes in.

Overnight batsmen- Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant couldn’t add any more runs. Jason Holder cleaned up Pant on the first ball of the day. But Vihari kept things tight from one end as the runs came by. He soon reached his half-century and displayed the grit and technique required to be a Test batsman.
Ravindra Jadeja’s 69-ball vigil came to an end when Rahkeem Cornwall claimed his second wicket. But Ishant Sharma has been rock solid with the bat in the series and this inning was no different. He shared a 50+ stand with Ishant to lead India to huge total. In the meantime, he brought his century of 200 balls including 15 boundaries.

Since making his Test debut in England last year, Hanuma Vihari has provided stability in the middle-order. Many former cricketers called for the inclusion of Rohit Sharma ahead of him in the first Test. He has answered his critics in style. He scored 125 including 92 in the second innings and now backed it with a perfect century to help India post a challenging first innings total.

A first test hundred. So so special. Played for the side's needs in the previous test and see, life does reward you sometimes for your selflessness. Well played @Hanumavihari

Hanuma Vihari is doing what good players do. Once they get a chance, they make it very difficult to drop them. Probably means that India play 2 spin + 2 pace in the home series

80+ scores away from home-
Rohit Sharma – 0 in 33 inns

Hanuma Vihari looks assured in defence & has the ability to build an innings after reading the situation. Batsman at 6 has to have partnerships with lower order batsmen. Vihari is doing it nicely without exposing them. Like VVS , he too has very good big match temperament.

Question upon Hanuma Vihari, he should not be in playing 11,experts were said why not Rohit in instead of Hanuma, he now prooved each of the test innings that he got, from first test Sunil gavaskar n many other goes with Rohit, but Vihari is so good… #WIvIND

There are so many ebbs and flows within a test innings. Hanuma Vihari has batted wonderfully to get into his 80s and suddenly it looks like there is no wind in his sails. But if he fights this phase, the flow will return.

A maiden hundred for Hanuma Vihari. What a pleasure to watch him play. Looked like a proper Test batsman. May he achieves a lot more than just this. #INDvWI
