Twitter Hails Hanuma Vihari As He Scripts His Maiden Test Century

India have taken a firm grip in the second and the final Test against West Indies thanks to Huma Vihari’s debut century in Jamaica. The young batsman from Hyderabad kept up his excellent form to lead India’s middle-order.

Meanwhile, the opening day of the second Test ended in even stevens with the visitors finishing on 264 for five. The Caribbeans made a strong start with early wickets of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara. Since then, Mayank  Agarwal and Virat Kohli consolidated with a solid partnership, the former getting out after reaching his third fifty. Ajinkya Rahane and Kohli also departed after setting their eyes in.

Overnight batsmen- Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant couldn’t add any more runs. Jason Holder cleaned up Pant on the first ball of the day. But Vihari kept things tight from one end as the runs came by. He soon reached his half-century and displayed the grit and technique required to be a Test batsman.

Since making his Test debut in England last year, Hanuma Vihari has provided stability in the middle-order. Many former cricketers called for the inclusion of Rohit Sharma ahead of him in the first Test. He has answered his critics in style. He scored 125 including 92 in the second innings and now backed it with a perfect century to help India post a challenging first innings total.
