Team India speedster Jasprit Bumrah turned 24 today and the whole cricketing fraternity wished the No 1 bowler in T20 cricket. His rise to the top has been simply sensational as the lanky pacer has evolved as a bowler in the last year and a half. He is undoubtedly one of India’s best bets in the bowling department especially in the limited overs format and courtesy his impressive returns in white ball cricket, Bumrah has been rewarded with a Test spot in the upcoming tour of South Africa which is scheduled to start from 5th January at the Cape Town.
India has decided to go with 5 fast bowlers and couple of spinners. It is a good decision given the fact that South African wickets are more pace friendly. Bumrah will look to replicate his good form even in the longest format of the game if he gets a chance during the 3 match Test series against the Proteas.
An Indian bowling attack is a settled unit and it would be difficult for Bumrah to break into the playing XI but a dream debut in the rainbow nation cannot be ruled out. Making his debut against Australia early in 2016, Bumrah has come along away and to hold the numero uno position in T20I cricket goes on to prove the impact the man has had in international cricket.
He has a deadly Yorker up his sleeve while the slower ball is the most potent weapon for him during the death over. He has the ability to bowl Yorkers on a consistent basis and troubles the opposition batsmen with his accurate bowling.
Even during the limited overs series against the Kiwis, it was Bumrah who bowled his heart out and played a crucial role in helping India win the series. He is a skiddy customer and with South African pitches expected to be friendly for the pacers Bumrah might go on to become a potent weapon for the visitors.
Now let us have a look at how Twitterati reacted to Bumrah’s birthday:
