Twitter Mercilessly Blasts Khaleel Ahmed For Poor Over Against Bangladesh

The first T20I between India and Bangladesh was evenly poised when Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Khaleel Ahmed to bowl the 19th over. The see-saw contest could have gone either way as Bangladesh needed 22 runs from the last 2 overs and with the pitch not very ideal for batting, the match was looking set to end in a thrilling manner.

Khaleel Ahmed had bowled brilliantly in the 17th over. After conceding a six on the first ball, he had conceded only three in the last five balls in addition to dismissing a well-set Soumya Sarkar. The onus was now on the left-hander to bowl a good 19th over to keep India alive in the game. However, he failed miserably as his over all but ended the contest.

Khaleel Ahmed started well and conceded two from the first two balls. However, Mushfiqur Rahim hit four consecutive boundaries on the remaining deliveries to put Bangladesh on top. By the time Khaleel Ahmed ended his over, Bangladesh needed just 4 from the last over. Skipper Mahmudullah then hit the third ball of the final over for a six to end the game.

The win ended Bangladesh’s long wait for a T20I win over India. Before this win, the Tigers had lost eight consecutive games to the Men in Blue. Talking about the game, India posted a challenging total of 148 for 6 in their stipulated 20 overs.  Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 41 while Rishabh Pant scored 27 from 26. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar also played handy knocks.

In reply, Bangladesh chased down the total with three balls remaining. Senior batsman Mushfiqur Rahim starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 60.

Meanwhile, the fans were quick to berate Khaleel Ahmed for his poor over. As soon as the game ended, they took to Twitter to slam the pacer.
