Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed an unbeaten ton as defending champions India stormed into the final of the ICC U19 World Cup by thrashing arch-rivals Pakistan by ten wickets in the semifinal on Tuesday. In a one-sided contest, Priyam Garg & Co. remained on top of the proceedings throughout the game despite losing the toss.

Chasing a modest 172, India crossed the finishing line in the 36th over without breaking a sweat. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Divyansh Saxena starred with the bat, scoring 105 and 59 respectively. Neither of the two looked in any trouble as they performed their task to perfection. Jaiswal finished the game in style by smashing a six that also helped him complete his century.

Earlier in the game, Indian bowlers came up with a fine display to bowl out Pakistan for 172. Rohail Nazir’s decision to bat first after winning the toss turned out to be a poor one as his teammates could not justify it. Only he and opener Haider Ali managed to put up a decent fight by scoring 62 and 56 respectively.

Barring Nazir and Haider, only Mohammad Haris (21) managed to score in double digits. Pakistan were off to a shaky start with their star man Mohammad Huraira departing for just 4. Fahad Munir was next to depart for a 16-ball duck before Haider and Nazir shared 62 runs for the third wicket.

The stand was the biggest one for Pakistan as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The next highest stand was of 28 runs between Haris and Nazir. Once Haris departed to leave his side five down for 146, the floodgates opened and Pakistan were eventually all out for 172 in the 44th over.

For India, Sushant Mishra picked up three wickets while Kartik Tyagi and Bishnoi picked up two wickets each.
