Team India once again got off to a perfect start in the second Test against South Africa in Pune. Last match double centurion Mayank Agarwal once again set the tone for his side with an outstanding hundred to give his side a kickstart in the Test match.
Mayank came into the playing XI in Australia and scored a fine 76 in the Melbourne Test and then 77 in Sydney. However, the disappoint of the missing out on the century was there and he fulfilled it in his first home Test. Mayank Agarwal played a brilliant knock of 215 runs and in the process added a record-breaking 317 runs for the first wicket alongside Rohit Sharma.
The Karnataka-born opener was desperate to show that he is not here for a short period and backed it with another beautiful hundred in Pune. Despite losing Rohit Sharma early, Mayank Agarwal showed the maturity to lead India’s batting.
The South African bowlers posed all sorts of difficult questions with the new ball but Mayank Agarwal had his share of luck and with determination and grit combined with it, he was destined for a big knock. He partnered Cheteshwar Pujara to add 100+ runs for the second wicket to set the platform.
Mayank got to 99 with two brilliant sixes of Keshav Maharaj giving something for the 4000+ plus fans to cheer at. Mayank Agarwal brought his century with another boundary to once again prove that he is here to stay as India marches on towards a big total.
Proper test match batting from Mayank Agarwal. The transformation from white ball slasher to red ball accumulator continues.

If Mayank can score 400 runs in next 5 innings he'll be the quickest to get to 1000 test runs by an Indian. #INDvSA Vinod Kambli achieved this milestone in 14 innings ( 1 year and 293 days )
