Twitter On Fire As Mayank Agarwal Scores Maiden Double Ton

Team India opener Mayank Agarwal took Test batting to a whole new level as he converted his maiden Test century to a double ton against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. With a double century from Agarwal and 176 from Rohit Sharma, the host have taken a firm grip in the opening encounter.

Mayank came into the Indian team in Australia on the back some consistent runs in the domestic cricket for almost 18 months. He was left exposed to some of the world-class bowlers in seam friendly wickets but the Karnataka batsman responded well.

He showed the passion and determination needed to find success at the highest level. Mayank Agarwal started to give hints of his immense talent with fight knocks in Australia and finally made it big in his first-ever Test at home.

After staying under the shadow of Rohit Sharma in the opening day in Visakhapatnam, Mayank Agarwal was in his elements on the second day. He stepped up to the task bestowed by the management and passed the litmus test with a century. Mayank looked pumped up as he reached his maiden Test ton while everyone in the dressing room stood up to acknowledge his hard work.

Mayank Agarwal grew in confidence after reaching the hundred and worked out the South African bowlers easily. Although three wickets fell on the other side of the wicket, it didn’t deter Mayank’s concentration as he had set his eyes on the double century.

The Karnataka-born batsman came down the wicket easily to the spinners to dispatch them over the boundary while the ones and twos were on offer. Mayank reached the landmark in style with a double which is also the second by an Indian against South Africa after Virender Sehwag.

Meanwhile, India have taken a firm grip on the Test match posting 415 runs for the loss of three wickets in the first innings.
