It has been a resolute performance from the Indian boys till now in the 2nd Test against South Africa and as the morning session on Day 3 has put India within touching distance of the South Africa 1st innings total. However, despite their brisk start on Day 3 morning, the visitors lost all-rounder Hardik Pandya in the strangest of manners. It was too casual from Pandya as he didn’t ground his bat despite being right infront of the pitch.
He never expected the throw to come towards his end. However, Vernon Philander had other plans and directly dislodged the stumps towards which Pandya was running. Even the commentators were literally livid with him that why on the earth he didn’t ground his bat despite being near the crease. He was dismissed on 15 of 45 deliveries which included a couple of boundaries.
The next man to come in was Ravichandran Ashwin and along with skipper Virat Kohli, the duo started resurrecting the innings with some exceptional strokeplay. Ashwin, in particular, started off with some fluent drives and struck 3 consecutive fours off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada. On the other hand, Kohli after his century gained in more confidence and played some gorgeous shots.
Earlier in the match, South Africa made 335 in their 1st essay after batting first. Aiden Markram, the South African opener was the top scorer for them with a fluent 94. Ravichandran Ashwin was the wrecker-in-chief for the visitors bagging 4 wickets for 113 runs.

Ishant Sharma who made a comeback in this clash after missing the opening Test and made his presence felt by finishing with impressive figures of 3/46. Currently, India has lost Ashwin and Mohammed Shami has joined Kohli in the middle. They are still 50 odd runs away from taking a lead and if that is the case then they will definitely back themselves to level the series.

Early lesson for Hardik Pandya that this game will come to bite you back if you let confidence become arrogance.
