England beats Australia by 16 runs to sweep up the series with two matches still to play. It will be a major boost for England after getting decimated in the Ashes 4-0. They played some discipline cricket throughout the series so far and had outclassed the opponent.

With three of their premier pace bowler back the first XI, Australian skipper Steve Smith opted to bowl first in an attempt to restrict the flow of runs. However, some good hitting down the order from Jos Buttler (100*)  and Chris Woakes (53*) helped England go past 300. They posted 113 runs in the last 12 overs after Australia reduced the visitors to 189 runs for the loss of six wickets.

In reply, it was the same story for Australia as their batting order couldn’t convert the starts. Steve Smith (45) and Mitchell Marsh (55) tried to take the game away from the visitors, but some disciplined bowling kept England in the game. On the other hand, Finch continued his good form scoring 62 runs off just 53 balls.

However, some valiant effort down the line from Marcus Stoinis (56) also didn’t help the host as they failed to cross the line.

England bowlers did a good job bowling some tight lines. Mark Wood, Chris Woakes, and Adil Rashid picking two wickets each.

Australia will face England in the fourth ODI at Adelaide Oval on 26th January.
