It was being said that the IPL is all about fresh legs while many mocked Chennai Super Kings’ decision to go with experienced players, who were well above their 30s. Two back to back hundreds by two veterans must have silenced that thought for the time being.

Shane Watson was on a rampage mode. He pushed the Rajasthan Royals out of the contest by hitting six sixes and nine fours, scoring his third IPL ton. He has scored his previous two tons for Rajasthan whereas this one came against them.

Watson was dropped by Rahul Tripathi in the very first over of the game. Stuart Binny found an edge with his delivery but his teammate dropped a sitter and it turned out to be a costly miss.”There’s no doubt I had some extra motivation, playing against Rajasthan. Incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to play for CSK, so happy to repay the faith. (on the dropped catch), I’m not sure. It’s just how it goes sometimes, but the other little things fell my way tonight.” Watson said after scoring a match-winning 106 off 57 balls.

Watson credits Dhoni, Fleming

The all-rounder praised his skipper MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming for setting the right environment with the needed dynamics. I’m always looking to get better, when it’s time you’re not learning, it’s time to stop, so I’m still trying to improve certain aspects of my playing. MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming know really well how to set a team dynamic, and seeing the inner workings of the team is great.” the 36-year-old added.
