Cricketing Fraternity Pours Wishes As VVS Laxman Celebrates His 47th Birthday

Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman aka VVS Laxman is celebrating his 47th Birthday on November 1, 2021. He received warm wishes from fans and the Cricketing fraternity on a ‘Very Very Special Day’.

VVS Laxman is regarded as one of the finest of his generation, he is one of the very few players who have played 100 games in the longest format of the game without playing a single 50-over World Cup game.

Laxman represented India in 134 Test games and batted in 225 innings scoring 8781 runs at a very good average of 45.97. He also smashed 17 centuries and 56 half-centuries in his enormously successful Test career. He played 86 One Day International games for India and scored 2338 runs at an average of 30.76. He smashed 6 ODI hundreds and 10 fifties.

Talking about his achievements, Laxman was named one of Wisden’s five Cricketers of the Year in 2002. He won the Arjuna Award in 2001 and In 2011 Laxman was awarded the Padma Shri award which is India’s fourth-highest civilian award.

VVS Laxman has smashed 10 hundred against Australia and he is only the 27th player to achieve this milestone against a single opposition. The Hyderabadi cricketer also holds the record of smashing 8 consecutive half-centuries and overall he is only the 5th player to achieve this milestone.

Laxman holds the record for smashing two unbeaten fifties in a single Test match and is also in the elite list of players to score 5000 Test runs and 50 fielding dismissals in Test cricket.

Meanwhile, VVS Laxman retired from international cricket in the year 2012. He is currently a mentor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad. VVS Laxman was also appointed as the batting consultant in the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)’s vision 2020 project.
