Indian middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer (86) missed out on a century on the second day of the first test between India and Bangladesh. The Mumbaikar failed to add much to his first day’s score of 82 and was cleaned up by a ripper from Ebadot Hossain.

Earlier in the morning on Day 2, Shreyas Iyer gained his third life of the innings. Ibadat Hussain lost his catch on the first day, later the ball hit the stumps as he was bowling it, but the bails did not fall. On the first day, he got two chances with his catches dropping at the scores of 30 and 67. The batter was once more favored by the god on the second day, as Liton Das dropped the catch at the boundary line while he was on 85.

Shreyas Iyer Keeps India In The Game Along With Cheteshwar Pujara

At the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer both scored a half-century to help India rally from 48/3 to 278/6 at the conclusion of day one of the first Test match against Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli had all been removed by Bangladesh in the opening session, which left India at 48/3 after 19.3 overs. India’s early comeback was powered by Pujara and Rishabh Pant (46) and their counterattacking 64-run stand.

However, when Pant was dismissed in the second session, Pujara and Iyer teamed up to spearhead another Indian comeback by putting up a strong 149-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Iyer was aggressive after a hesitant start and had plenty of luck on his side, while Pujara was as steady as a rock.

Iyer remained undefeated on 82 from 169 balls on an exciting day of Test cricket, while Pujara fell ten runs short of his century as left-arm spinner Taijul Islam got him out to complete his three-wicket haul after defeating him numerous times during the day.
