India vs England 2021: Cricket Fraternity Hails Rishabh Pant After He Reverse-Laps James Anderson

The entire cricket fraternity is in awe of the 23-year-old Rishabh Pant, who might have just played the shot of the year 2021 during his brilliant, series-defining knock of 101 off 118 balls against England on the second day of the final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Of course! I am talking about the reverse-lap that Rishabh Pant hit off James Anderson- Yes! JAMES ANDERSON– the same bowler who will go down in history as one of the greatest fast bowlers to have ever played this game- over the slip cordon for a boundary.
The very first ball that Anderson bowled, Rishabh Pant danced down the track and smashed the fast bowler down the ground for a boundary. He then backed it up with a swat past extra-cover for a boundary on the very next delivery.

But the moment of the day or the Test match or maybe the moment of the year came in the next over of James Anderson when the 23-year-old got on one knee and nonchalantly reverse-paddled the veteran pacer over the slip cordon for a boundary.
Anderson eventually had his man in his next over but not before Rishabh Pant had given us yet another glimpse of his outrageous talent; one that would stay with all those who watched it live, forever.

I don’t think anyone has had the skill audacity to do that to Jimmy Anderson (in a Test) before #INDvENG #astonishing pic.twitter.com/T3snjDstW5

Since 2014, Rishabh Pant is the first player to reverse sweep/pull James Anderson in Test cricket. #INDvENG

It genuinely provides a fascinating glimpse of why Rishabh is so revolutionary for Indian cricket that Gavaskar responded to him ramping Anderson for four by asking him to play responsibly, only for Pant to reach his century slog sweeping against the spin moments later. #INDvENG

Rishabh Pant embarrassing Anderson. Disrespectful. Ridiculous. Unreal shot.

Rishabh Pant’s father bought him a $250 bat when he was eight. His mother wasn’t too happy at the hole it put in the family’s savings, as they shared one room in Roorkee. Fast forward 15 years and Rishabh is reversing Jimmy Anderson with the new ball. Money well spent. #INDvENG

Pant brings up the series-clinching 100 stand with a reverse-flip for four over the slips off Jimmy Anderson and the new ball. As you do.
