IPL 2021: Twitter Reacts As SRH Hold Their Nerve To Spoil RCB's Party

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a last-over thriller on Wednesday to deny their opponents a chance to enter the top two. With the loss, RCB is all set to finish in third place.

Chasing a target of 142 on a slow track, Bangalore got off to a poor start. They lost Virat Kohli and Daniel Christian inside the first four overs. Srikar Bharat joined Devdutt Padikkal in the middle and played a few crisp shots but fell to Umran Malik’s pace.

The in-form batsman, Glenn Maxwell, then began to script a counterattack. He took on Rashid Khan and won the battle against him. Padikkal at the other end was struggling to score runs. The turning point of the match came when Maxwell was run out by a brilliant direct hit from Kane Williamson.

The required rate was climbing and Padikkal succumbed to the pressure. His painful knock of 41 off 52 balls came to an end when Abdul Samad took a good running catch in the deep. Shahbaz Ahmed played a good cameo and took RCB close to the target. 13 runs were needed off the last over and Bhuvneshwar Kumar managed to hold his own against de Villiers to earn SRH’s third win of the season.

Earlier, Jason Roy and Williamson forged a 70-run partnership for the second half to set the platform for SRH. Williamson’s wicket was taken by Harshal which put the brakes on the scoring rate. Their middle-order batsmen couldn’t capitalize and the Bangalore spinners applied the chokehold.

Eventually, they ended up with 141 on the board which seemed like a par total on the surface and it certainly proved to be. Harshal took 3/33 in his four overs but his effort went in vain as the Royal Challengers fell to a 4-run loss.
