Twitter Erupts As Rishabh Pant Smashes His Maiden Test Hundred On Home Soil

Oh, Rishabh Pant! You mad freeking beauty! This is what everyone was once again forced to say as the 23-year-old swashbuckler smashed his maiden Test hundred on home solid and the third of his career during the ongoing Test between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After teasing us with plenty of 80s and 90s in the past few months, Rishabh Pant finally breached the 100-run barrier in Test match cricket on the second evening of the fourth Test. And, he did that in typical Pant manner- a slog-sweep off left-arm orthodox Jack Leach.
Rishabh Pant has been in sensational form in Test match cricket ever since he made his comeback to the playing 11 after having been dropped from the Adelaide Test back in December.
The southpaw scored a match-saving 97 in the fourth innings of the Sydney Test against Australia and backed it up with a match-winning 89* at the Gabba to help India script a memorable series win Down Under.
Pant had come to the crease in the afternoon session after India had lost three quick wickets in the form of Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane and with Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin following suit in the second session, India needed their swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman to play another series-defining knock.
And, Pant did that with absolute disdain. The Delhi cricketer played quite maturely during the initial phase of his innings as he focussed on rebuilding the Indian innings by taking singles and doubles.
Pant scored his first 50 runs in 82 balls post which he teed off in the manner like only he can. Square-cuts? Check. Pull? Check. Reverse-Lap? Check. Off James Anderson? Check. Slog Sweep? Check. Lofted drive over the bowler’s head? Check. Check. Check.
Rishabh Pant scored his last 50 runs in a mere 35 balls in what was an enthralling display of stroke-making. He was eventually dismissed for 101 but not before he had enthralled everyone with his batting.
Here’s a look at how Twitter reacted to Rishabh Pant’s 100:

Drives me mad when batsman say “Well that’s the way I play“ … Pant has shown in one innings that is complete nonsense! Play the situation….

What's extra special is not how Pant is batting now. This he does for fun. But it shows you just how well he did, for himself and the team, earlier in the day, when he put his head down and got the job done. #<!---->I<!---->N<!---->D<!---->v<!---->E<!---->N<!---->G
