Once again for the third time in the series, the Indian National Cricket Team sits pretty comfortably in the driver seat at the end of first innings. The exceptional performance by KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey helped India post a massive tally on the board in the third ODI at Bay Oval.
Getting into the details, initially, it was New Zealand, who won the toss, asked the visitors to bat first. India made one change with Kedar Jadhav sitting out for Manish Pandey. For New Zealand, Kane Williamson is back to lead the team while Mitchell Santner also gets the game. They replaced Tom Blundell and Mark Chapman respectively.
India once again got the jolt in tye initial overs itself, as Mayank Agarwal walked back with 1 run to his name. Virat Kohli followed him quickly after hitting a six. However, Prithvi Shaw showcased his class by hitting boundaries more often than not. Just when things looked settling in the middle for India, Prithvi Shaw walled back after a mix-up with Shreyas Iyer.
Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul added 100-run partnership:
However, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul formed the partnership in the middle to avoid further hiccups. Both the players knocked runs thick and fast to put New Zealand on the back foot.
The duo added 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Shreyas Iyer losing his concentration in the middle. Nonetheless, KL Rahul found a good partner in Manish Pandey, who scored runs at a good pace.
Shreyas Iyer scored 62 while KL Rahul brought his fifth ODI hundred. He also became the second player to score hundred batting at number 5.
Following century, KL Rahul showed his mojo with brilliant shots across the park. On the other hand, Manish Pandey yet again proved his calibre to the team management.

There is a reason why I've been rooting for KL Rahul from last three years despite patches of fallow form. He oozes class. Plays traditional shots but can crank it up when required. Has ironed out few technical glitches. Too good a talent to be left out of Tests. #NZvsIND

KL Rahul should now seal his role as the first choice Wicket Keeper in the T20 WC surely! Surely he is the best for that role at the moment. #NZvsIND
