Twitter Reacts As Rohit Sharma Makes An Outstanding Start As A Test Opener

Team India have got off to a fantastic start in the opening day of the first Test against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. Openers – Mayank Agarwal and Rohit Sharma gave the much-needed impetus as the host went to lunch at 91 without losing any wicket.
Meanwhile, the spotlight was on Rohit coming into this Test, who took guard as an opener for the first time in red-ball cricket for India and he’s passed the litmus test by notching a half-century. The Mumbai cricketer came into the playing XI in place of KL Rahul after his consecutive failures and has delivered when needed the most.

India walked out with a revamped opening order who have given the home side a solid start. Mayank Agarwal too complemented Rohit Sharma well as the hosts made the most of a benign surface. Although Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander were too good with the new ball but failed to encash.

The spinners managed to extract some turn out of the wicket but it didn’t bother the Indian openers. They came down the track as and when needed to dispatch them over the long-on fielder. Rohit Sharma was the aggressor of the two as he played his natural game to bring his sixth consecutive fifty at home.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli & Co will want Rohit to bat as long as possible as the wicket will only get better from here. The swashbuckling opener himself will be eyeing his fourth Test century and first as an opener and take India to a strong position in the opening day.
