Twitter Reacts As Virat Kohli Smashes 42nd ODI Hundred
Updated - 16 Aug 2019, 03:30 PM
The Indian captain Virat Kohli completed his 42nd One Day International hundred in the ongoing second match against the West Indies. Kohli was able to get off the blocks as timed the ball to perfection. The Indian captain got to his hundred in 112 balls and celebrated his century with a jump.
Kohli was able to hit the ground running as he scored runs from the get-go. The timing was sublime from the minute Kohli came to the crease and the talismanic batsman was able to make the most of his form.
Kohli was brilliant again.
Subsequently, during the course of the innings, Kohli went past the record of former Pakistan skipper Javed Miandad. The former Pakistan batsman had scored 1930 runs against West Indies, which was the most for any batsman before this match. Kohli needed another 19 runs to get past Miandad and he did the same in 30 innings fewer than the Pakistan linchpin batsman.

Furthermore, Kohli leapfrog former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly tally of ODI runs. Ganguly had scored 11363 runs in 311 ODI matches whereas Kohli overtook Ganguly runs in only 238 matches. Thus, Kohli has now become the eighth highest run-getter in the history of the 50-overs version.
Kohli continues to produce runs.
On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan once again could not deliver the goods whereas Rohit Sharma didn’t look at his best. India’s rookie wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant played a rash cross-batted to get dismissed on 20 runs.
Subsequently, Kohli got good support from Shreyas Iyer. The pair have brought up a 100 runs partnership in the same number of balls. Iyer was able to grab his opportunity with both hands as he scored his third fifty in the ODI format.

Fine century by Kohli, made sweeter for him because it’s come after a while. Getting India to approx 300 is the need now. Looks a good batting track and the West Indies bat deep
