Riding on Shikhar Dhawan’s century, India thrashed Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the third and final One-Day International to win the three-match series 2-1. In this article, we bring you Twitter reaction.

Chasing a modest 216, India could not start their innings on a strong note as their in-form skipper Rohit Sharma was clean bowled by Akila Dananjaya for just 7. But Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer did not let Thisara Perera make further inroads by sharing a decisive 135-run stand.

Iyer completely eased the pressure off Dhawan and the team by playing with a good strike-rate while Dhawan looked more than happy to let his younger teammate do the bulk of the scoring. Iyer went on to score his second ODI fifty in 44 balls while Dhawan also followed suit a little later, reaching the landmark off  46 deliveries. With Sri Lankan bowlers not looking threatening at all and both the batsmen going great guns, it looked like the duo would get India home. However, the partnership was broken by Thisara Perera against the run of play when Iyer miscued a pull shot straight to mid-on. The right-handed batsman scored 65 off 63 with the help of 8 fours and a six.

Dhawan, meanwhile, went on to complete his century off just 84 balls and was well supported by Dinesh Karthik as the duo shared an unbeaten stand to take India home.

Earlier, Sri Lanka threw away a good opportunity to post a good as they lost their last eight wickets for just 55 runs. After being asked to bat first, the Islanders were off to a poor start as Danushka Gunathilaka was sent back by Jasprit Bumrah cheaply. However, Upul Tharanga and Sadeera Samarawickrama not only steadied the ship but also set the platform for a big total.

Tharanga was taking the Indian bowlers to the cleaners, racing away to his fifty off just 36 balls while Samarawickrama played the role of the second fiddle. The duo shared 121 runs for the second wicket before Yuzvendra Chahal broke the stand by dismissing Samarawickrama for 42.  A few minutes later, Tharanga fell to Kuldeep Yadav for 95, and it opened the floodgates. Wickets collapsed like a pack of cards as from 160 for 2; the visitors were all out for 215. Chahal and Kuldeep starred with the ball for the hosts, picking up three wickets apiece.
