The final match of the round-robin league was played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Maharastra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune.

It was a battle between one team playing for the top spot in the table versus the other, trying their luck to secure the final berth in the playoffs.

CSK have to win with 14-plus deliveries remaining, whereas, KXIP have to defeat the yellow brigade by a margin of 53 runs.

Early on, KXIP captain, Ravichandran Ashwin received a substantial amount of flak for dropping Yuvraj Singh and bringing in Karun Nair.

In the hindsight, it turned out to be a useful decision as the Karnataka star took the men in red out of troubled waters, giving something to the bowler to bowl at.

Nair scored a priceless 54 which came off just 25 deliveries, taking his team out of trouble with Tiwary, helping KXIP post a challenging 153.

Kings XI received few major blows up front, with their top order failing after a long time, collectively.

Lungi Ngidi was almost unplayable during this phase as he conceded only eight runs in his first three overs.

The Protean bagged the wickets of run machine KL Rahul and Chris Gayle, he came back to remove Ravichandran Ashwin and Andrew Tye to end up with the figures of 4-10 in his four overs.

Here’s how Twitter reacted following breathtaking spell from Lungi Ngidi:
