UAE all Set to Host Australia for One-off T20I

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will take on Australia in a one-off twenty20 international in Abu Dhabi on Monday, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Wednesday. However, the Aussies will get a chance to tune up for their upcoming T20I series against Pakistan by playing against the UAE.

Meanwhile, UAE has now been granted full international status after both Cricket Australia, and the Pakistan Cricket Board agreed to the move, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on its website.

The Emirates Cricket Board member, Zayed Abbas said the match in Abu Dhabi on October 22 would give his side some much-needed game-time against a leading international team.

“Our thanks also go to Cricket Australia for approaching this opportunity so positively, and especially to the Pakistan Cricket Board for permitting this match during their home tour in the UAE with Australia,” Zayed Abbas said.

However, Abbas was moreover grateful towards the Pakistan Cricket Board (PBC) for providing this opportunity.

 

“It has been an incredible effort from all parties to bring this match to fruition,” he added.

Meanwhile, Australia and Pakistan are currently playing the second match of a two-match Test series in Abu Dhabi. Moreover, Tim Paine’s side is seeking their first series win in Asia since 2011. Also, Usman Khawaja was the only centurion from the team who managed to finish the first game in a draw.

He scored 226 runs from both the innings and was also rewarded as the Player of the Match. On the other hand, Mohammad Hafeez along with Haris Sohail was the two centurions from Pakistan team in the first game.

However, the top-order batsman, Aaron Finch will lead his side for the T20I match against Pakistan. Moreover, Australia will play three T20Is against Pakistan commencing from October 24 (Wednesday). The second and third game will be played in Dubai on October 26 and October 28.
