Uncapped fast-bowler Sherman Lewis has replaced injured Alzarri Joesh in the West Indies’ 15-man Test squad for the upcoming series in India.

Joseph continues to recover from a stress fracture of the back he suffered in November last year. The pacer underwent two fitness assessment before being advised to continue with his rehabilitation. Joseph, however, has played competitive games in recent times. He played in the home series against Bangladesh as well as represented St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the recently-concluded Caribbean Premier League.

His replacement Lewis, meanwhile, made his first-class debut for Windward Islands last March. He made an instant impression by picking up 30 wickets in the season, at an average of 21.66 in the regional four-day Championship. The performance helped him get a call for the West Indies A squad that toured England. He impressed there too, picking four-fers in both innings of the first unofficial Test against India A.
