Ever since the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin affected Mankading to dismiss Jos Buttler, it has become a headliner in the game of cricket. The players across the globe expressed their disappointment for the poor display of the sportsman spirit in a tournament, which will be witnessed by a huge section of people in the world.
Kings XI Punjab got their campaign off to a winning start in the Indian Premier League on Monday but their victory was overshadowed by a controversial run out that took place in the second innings with R Ashwin and Jos Buttler being involved in the heat of things.
Chasing 185 for victory, the Royals were cruising when Jos Buttler was at the crease. Controversy unfolded in the 13th over when Ashwin came into bowl and Mankaded Buttler and appealed immediately. The replays have shown Buttler was out from his crease, which ruled him ”out”.

No former cricketers have an objection – Rahul Mankad
Speaking of the controversy, the son of former legendary Vinoo Mankad quoted that the name of his father is being dragged into this. Further, he went on to add saying that it wasn’t his father, who started it and named after his name.
“I have spoken to many greats, including Sunil Gavaskar, the Chappells (Greg and Ian) and Michael Holding and they have no issue with this form of dismissal. But this doesn’t die as a controversy, it’s unfortunate that my father’s name is tainted because of this,” the 63-year-old Rahul, one of the three sons (Ashok and Atul were others), told Mumbai Mirror on Wednesday.

Recently, after the changes in law, the mode of dismissal was changed to Run-Out. However, people are still calling it as the ”Mankad”, which he feels inappropriate. He wants the dismissal to be called as ”Mankading”.
