Watch: Shahrukh Khan Hits 6 Off The Last Ball In Final As Tamil Nadu Clinch Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021

Tamil Nadu batsman Shahrukh Khan smashed a six off the final ball of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final against Karnataka to clinch the title for his side on Monday.

The two teams went head-to-head at the Arun Jaitley Stadium to play for the 2021 SMAT. The match boiled down to the final ball where Shahrukh was on strike and Tamil Nadu needed 5 runs to win.

Pratik Jain, who had bowled well up to that point, dished out a half volley on the leg stump which was flicked away by Shahrukh over the deep square leg boundary to end the innings and the tournament in style.

The hit sparked off joyous celebrations in the TN camp as they ran out onto the field to hug the Man of the Moment. With that win, TN successfully defended their title having won the previous edition as well.

Batting first, Karnataka put up 151 on the board courtesy of lower-order cameos. The last three overs fetched 42 runs which shifted the scales in Karnataka’s favor. With the ball in hand, Manish Pandey and co. started off well and kept the lid tight.

The middle-overs of the run chase saw a period where no boundary was scored for more than eight overs and the pressure continued to pile up. Eventually, it needed a stunning assault from Shahrukh, in the end, to take his side over the line.
