Indian captain Virat Kohli was at his animated best during the home sides’ innings in the series-decider against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
And, he had every reason to as Team India notched up their highest T20I total against England (2-224) in what was an onslaught for the ages by every batsman that strolled out to bat in the middle.
Kohli, who himself produced another masterclass (80* off 52 balls) had the best seat in the house as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya took the English attack to the cleaners.
And, Kohli’s admiration for every shot that his fellow batsmen stroked was on full display.
A pertinent example of the same came during the 19th over of the innings when Hardik Pandya smoked Chris Jordan for a six over deep midwicket.
This was the second consecutive six that Hardik Pandya had hit off Chris Jordan in the 19th over. He had previously flicked the fast bowler for a maximum over deep backward square-leg.
Pandya, who had endured a tough outing in the series thus far, finally came good in the series-decider as he smashed an unbeaten 17-ball 39 which included four fours and two sixes.
Pandya and Virat Kohli ensured that India smashed 66 runs in the last five to help the home team to post 2-224 in 20 overs.
