England off-spin all-rounder Moeen Ali did not particularly have a day to remember during the opening game against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Overlooked from the playing 11 for the first Twenty20 International as England went with an extra pacer, Moeen Ali, as it turned out, was ignored by Jofra Archer as well after the completion of the match.

England, the No.1 ranked T20I side in the world, flexed their muscles on Friday as they mauled the Virat Kohli-led Team India by a comprehensive margin of eight wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

The heroes of the night were their bowling attack-led by speedster Jofra Archer. Having been asked to bat first, Team India was rocked early as Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid claimed the prized scalps of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli in the first three overs.

The English bowlers were absolutely relentless and at no one point in the game, did they allow the Indian batsmen to settle as they kept on to take wickets at regular intervals.

Barring Shreyas Iyer, none of the Indian batsmen could cope with the relentless pressure as the home managed a mere 9/124 in 20 overs. Jofra Archer with figures of 3/23 in four overs turned out to be the best English bowler on show.

The total of 124 was never going to be enough against a dynamic English batting line-up and it didn’t as the likes of Jason Roy, Jos Buttler and then Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan ensured that the target was chased down in a canter.

After the match, England players were shaking hands with each other to congratulate each other for a thumping win. Jofra Archer, who was named as ‘Player of the Match’, turned towards Adil Rashid to shake hands. Moeen Ali, who was standing beside Rashid, had his palm out in anticipation that the fast bowler will shake hands with him. It never happened though as Archer completely ignored him albeit intentionally.
