Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja dismissed the biggest fish of the day, Kane Williamson, to put India in the driver’s seat heading into the final 25 overs of the Kanpur Test.
New Zealand had managed to keep the Indian bowlers at bay for most of the day. The first session went wicketless for India before three wickets fell in the middle session. However, with Williamson at the crease, the visitors were always holding out for a draw.
It wasn’t to be though as Jadeja’s consistency, pressure from the other end, and help from the low bounce on the track all ensured that the Kiwi skipper fell after a fighting hand. It was a knock that kept the Black Caps’ hopes alive for a draw but Jadeja put his hand up when the team needed him.
As he has been doing all day, Jadeja kept bringing one in with the arm but this delivery stayed low as well. Williamson was a tad too late to cut across and ended up missing the straight delivery to be hit low on the front pad. Jadeja wasn’t even waiting for the umpire to raise the finger as he went on a ‘celebrappeal’.
India is now just four wickets away from going 1-0 up in the series. That being said, the Kiwis still have Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee who are no slouches with the bat. They are more than capable of attacking or can even rely on their defence.
