It all happened on the first ball of the 18th over when David Warner (57 off 55 balls), in an attempt to get some quick-fire runs at the backend, threw the kitchen sink at a full wide delivery outside off-stump by Lungi Ngidi.
Warner reached out for it and chipped it over the cover region but as was the case with the southpaw throughout the course of his innings, the Australian opener did not get the timing that he would have liked and Ravindra Jadeja, as usual, took a regulation catch at sweeper-cover.
And, Jadeja’s wife in the stands absolutely enjoyed it.
Coming back to David Warner, it was a real struggle for the SunRisers Hyderabad skipper throughout the course of his innings as he consistently failed to middle the ball.
Warner went at less than run-a-ball for a majority of his innings and the frustration on his face was quite evident every time he found the fielder.
That said, David Warner did have his moments as he notched up several landmarks during his knock. Warner became the fourth batsmen to smash in excess of 10000 runs and he celebrated with that with a couple of sixes off Lungi Ngidi and Ravindra Jadeja that helped him get past the 200 IPL six and 50 IPL half-centuries mark.
David Warner’s wicket proved to be a blessing in disguise as the champion Kane Williamson smashed a whirlwind 10-ball 26* while Kedar Jadhav chipped in with a 4-ball 12 to help SunRisers Hyderabad smashed 3/171 in 2o overs.
