A brilliant and timely knock from Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has finally come to an end as the right-hander holed out at deep square-leg of the bowling of Mohammed Shami for a 52-ball 63.

It all happened on the third ball of the 18th over bowled by Mohammed Shami when Sharma, in an attempt to swipe at a low full-toss over deep square-leg, ended up hitting it flat and straight down Fabian Allen’s throat.

The wicket of Rohit Sharma couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Mumbai Indians given the fact that they had already lost another well-set batsman in Suryakumar Yadav in the preceding over.

Nevertheless, it was a brilliant knock by Rohit Sharma on what is another sluggish track at Chennai.

He started off cautiously and even had a couple of caught-behind and a run-out scare but once he settled into his innings, the ‘Hitman’ some of his trademark sumptuous strokes.

Rohit Sharma stroked as many as five fours and a couple of sixes and his 79-run-stand with Suryakumar Yadav helped Mumbai Indians recover from a precarious position of 2/26 after 7 overs.

Sharma’s wicket, however, has ensured that Mumbai Indians did not the final flurry that they would have hoped as they lost both Hardik and Krunal Pandya as they finished at 6/131.
