IND vs NZ 2021: Watch - Shubman Gill Takes An Excellent Running Catch To Dismiss William Sommerville On Day 5

Shubman Gill revived Indian hopes of a win on Day 5 as he took a lovely running catch in the deep to dismiss overnight New Zealand batsman, William Sommerville.

The Kiwis had played out a wicketless first session in the morning to slowly crush India’s chances in the game. However, Umesh Yadav brought a ray of hope on the very first ball after Lunch. The team came out with a plan to bowl short and Yadav’s pace did the work.

He dug in short and Sommerville got into an awkward position to pull. He went through with the shot anyway but got it off the top half of the blade. The ball flew towards Gill who ran in from fine leg and held on to an excellent diving catch. The ball was continuously dipping but Gill was very aware of the situation.

The wicket was exactly what India needed after the break to keep their shoulders up. The track at Kanpur continues to be good for batting apart from the low bounce here and there. It isn’t easy to prise out the remaining Kiwi wickets but the Indian spinners continue to build the pressure.

Tom Latham and Kane Williamson are at the crease and the duo will be key to New Zealand’s hopes of clinging onto a draw or even consider a stunning victory.
