Years of toil, patience, disappointments, finally came to an end for Suryakumar Yadav as he strolled out to bat in India colors for the first time in his career.
And, he announced himself to the International arena with the most audacious stroke that one would ever see from a debutant. Suryakumar Yadav strolled out to bat following the dismissal of Rohit Sharma, and on the very first delivery he faced from Jofra Archer, he displayed just why he should have played a lot more for Team India than he has.
Make no mistake about it. SKY would have been under a lot of pressure. After all, his lifelong dream had finally been realized after years of snubs. He would have had a lot of nerves while coming to the middle for the first time on an international stage.
But, Suryakumar Yadav channelized all those nerves into positive energy as he got inside the line of the ball and with one foot in the air, he proceeded to audaciously smoke it over deep fine-leg.
And as if it wasn’t enough, he proceeded to punch Mark Wood off the backfoot for a boundary in the next over to show another side of his batting.
Suryakumar Yadav has since then carried on in his merry way, sweeping Adil Rashid for a boundary before stroking him for an inside-out six.
With India losing two quick wickets in the form of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, the onus will now be on Suryakumar Yadav to spearhead Indian batting.
