Karun Nair has been appointed as the captain of Karnataka for the knockout stage of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18.
R Vinay Kumar, who missed a couple of league stage games due to elbow niggle, will continue to sit out.
Nair, who is the vice-captain of the side, will continue to perform the captaincy duties.

The right-handed batsman had started leading the team from 2016 when R Vinay Kumar was ruled out for the Ranji Trophy contest against Delhi.
Later, Nair also led Delhi Daredevils in IPL in the absence of Zaheer Khan.
He was also appointed as the captain of India A Test side for the unofficial Test matches against South Africa A.

Karnataka will also miss out on the services of KL Rahul, who has joined Indian team in South Africa and might play all the three T20Is. He though played three games for his state before leaving the camp.

They ended their league stage tourney, as the second placed team after winning games four out of six games.
They haven’t done well in the season, and this is an opportunity for the team to end the season on a high.
A win in the tournament will also give all the players an opportunity to play in the Deodhar Trophy too.
Baroda, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mumbai and Saurashtra are the other teams in the knockout stage.
Mumbai will face Maharashtra in the second quarterfinal on the same day as Karnataka-Hyderabad’s game. On February 22, Saurashtra will face Baroda while Delhi will face Andhra Pradesh.
The two semi-finals will be played on February 24 and 25 at Feroz Shah Kotla. The final of the tournament will be played on February 27 at the same venue.
