However, earlier in the day, Mumbai skipper, Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bat first. Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane put 27 runs on their scoreboard before losing the first wicket. Rahane, who scored a brilliant century in the previous match couldn’t do much against Railways. Anureet Singh dismissed Rahane. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer partnered brilliantly and added 161 runs for their second wicket.

However, the rookie batsman is looking furious in the ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy 2018. He missed his century by just two runs against Baroda. Meanwhile, he completed his maiden three-digit score in the List A cricket.

Shaw scored a brilliant hundred off 61 balls. He played some excellent cricketing shots and managed to put some big score for him as well as for the team.

Furthermore, Prashant Awasthi did the job for his team picking up Shaw’s wicket. Prithvi scored 129 facing only 81 deliveries smashing 14 boundaries and six massive sixes.

However, after the departure of the Mumbai youngster, the other two batsmen, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav did the damage. Iyer, who had led India A in the quadrangular series scored a brilliant 144. Along with him, Mumbai Indians opener, Suryakumar Yadav hit a quickfire 67 as well. Mumbai ended the first innings by hitting 400 for five against Railways.

Prithvi to stay in line for the national call-up

However, the Mumbai batsman got picked alongside Hanuma Vihari for the last two England Tests. Though Shaw didn’t get the break, Hanuma made his debut at the Oval and scored a fifty in addition to picking three wickets in the final innings.

Now, with the Windies series coming up and the Australia tour later this year, Shaw’s recent performance would help him stay in contention.
