SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Vijay Shankar is keen to make an impact in the IPL 2020 with his tweaked bowling. Shankar has focused primarily to remain fit during the lockdown and wants to make the most of his opportunity in the IPL 2020. He could turn out to be an utility player for SRH in the upcoming season.

Shankar can score down the order and is capable of the big hits. He, however, is focusing to improve his bowling. He admitted that he can bowl a lot quicker if he chooses to increase his pace and thus putting the hard yards.

“Remaining fit was the primary focus during lockdown but once things eased up a little – I began focusing on all aspects of my game. I have always felt that I could bowl a little quicker and chose to work on increasing my pace. The result of the hard yards I have put in will only be seen when I begin bowling during a match,” Vijay Shankar told The Times of India.

“I am keen to make a bigger impact on the game and that’s the reason I chose to tweak my bowling. Having said that, batting and fielding hasn’t been left behind as an all-rounder must excel in every facet of the game.”

Shankar has played 33 matches in the lucrative tournament. He has scored 557 runs in 33 games but has picked up only two wickets on the contrary. This is one of the key reasons that he wants to make impact with the bowling.

IPL 2020 will be played entirely in UAE due to the pandemic situation forcing the cricket board to host the tournament away from India. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will be the three venues used for the tournament. Dream 11 have been named as the sponsor for the upcoming season of the tournament after VIVO pulled out.
