Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, had a significant moment in his cricketing career when the left-arm pacer managed to bag his maiden youth Test wicket against Sri Lanka U-19 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club ground in Colombo.

Arjun Trapped Sri Lanka’s Kamil Mishra right in front of the stumps and the umpire had no hesitation in ruling it in favour of the visiting Indian team. The left-arm pacer bowled five overs before lunch and ended up conceding 18 runs for a wicket.

Former Indian batsman and a close friend of Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli was in all praise for the youngster. After seeing the junior Tendulkar bag his maiden international wicket, Vinod Kambli took to his twitter handle and wrote an emotional message for Arjun.

He congratulated him on a special moment and also wished him all the success in his future endeavours.

Vinod Kambli Cries Tears of Joy as Arjun Tendulkar Bags Maiden International Wicket

“Tears of joy rolled down when I saw this, have seen him grow up and put in the hard work in his game. Could not be more happy for you, Arjun. This is just the beginning; I wish you tons and ton of success in the days to come. Cherish your first wicket and enjoy the moment,” Kambli wrote.

However, Junior Tendulkar got selected in the Indian youth team in July.

Since then Arjun had spent a considerable amount of time at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore under the supervision of WV Raman and Sanath Kumar.

Raman is the coach of the India U-19 for the tour of Sri Lanka. India arrived in Colombo on 10th July and played a two-day practice game on 12th and 13th July. The second Test will be played from 23rd to 26th July.

Arjun is part of the Test squad only. He has not received a call-up for the limited-overs series which will follow after the conclusion of the Test series. The 1st ODI will be played at the P Sara Oval in Colombo on 29th July. It will be followed by the next two games on August 1 and 4, respectively at the Sinhalese Sports Club.
