Virat Kohli, India, and Royal Challengers Bangalore captain added yet another feat to his already star-studded cap as he became only the 5th cricket in the history of the IPL to smash 200 sixes.
The moment came in the 17th over of Royal Challengers Bangalore innings when the champion batsman danced down the track and smashed Mitchell Santner for a six down the ground.
During the same knock, Virat Kohli also became the 3rd batsmen to scale Mount.400 in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
Coming back to the list of cricketers, who have smashed 200+ sixes in the IPL, Virat Kohli has joined the likes of Chris Gayle (336), AB de Villiers (231), MS Dhoni (216), Rohit Sharma (209).
Furthermore, Virat Kohli also leapfrogged MS Dhoni to become the leading run-scorer among IPL captains.
Coming back to today’s game, Kohli has spearheaded RCB’s innings on what is a pretty slow wicket. Kohli came to bat following the dismissal of Aaron Finch and have since then maneuvered the strike brilliantly even as boundaries came hard to come by.
The charismatic batsman stitched an 82-run-stand with AB de Villiers before going on to score his third half-century of the season in 42 balls. This was Virat’s 39th IPL fifty- the joint-most in the tournament’s history. And, it ultimately took a brilliant catch by Faf du Plessis to dismiss the skipper in the 19th over.
