India and Australia are yet to lock horns but Virat Kohli has already started garnering all the attention from the Australian cricket fraternity. India are scheduled to play three ODIs, three T20Is and four Tests Down Under and are currently in Sydney, preparing for the series.

The ODI series will kickstart the tour on November 27. The much-awaited Test series is scheduled to start on December 17 in Adelaide. And ahead of the clash of the two cricketing giants, former Australia coach Darren Lehmann has lavished praise on Virat Kohli’s attitude.

Lehmann has said Virat Kohli will give his 100% to win the lone Test he is playing in. The India skipper will be playing only the first Test of the four-match series before returning home to be at the birth of his first child. Anushka Sharma is due to give birth in early January.

“That’s just the way he plays; he plays full of energy and doesn’t want to lose,” Lehmann told Sydney Morning Herald according to news agency PTI.

The former Australia batsman further said that the Indian batting star has the hallmark of a great player as he always pushes the boundary. He also recalled the closely-fought 2017 Test series between the two teams to point out Kohli’s fighting spirit.

“He always pushes the boundaries, but that’s what great players do. He wants to win every game. That was one of the more fiery ones [2017 series] going around in recent years,” Lehmann said.

Former Australia batsman Greg Chappell also hailed Kohli as one of the best players in the world. Chappell, who also coached India, said that Kohli is one of the most influential players in the world at the moment.

“I think he’s certainly one of the best players and one of the most influential players in world cricket at the moment,” said Chappell.

“He has strong views, he’s quite happy to speak those views, he’s quite happy to put himself out there and back himself to back up his words,” he added.
