India skipper Virat Kohli continues to set the bar higher with each passing day on the field. The right-handed batsman is shattering records with almost every innings of his. On Sunday, he added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap. Leading from the front, the India batting stalwart crossed the 50-run mark once again.

It was the fifth time in this World Cup that he crossed the fifty-run mark. In the process, he became just the second player to score five consecutive fifties in a single edition of the World Cup. He also became the first captain to score five back-to-back fifties in the World Cup.

Steve Smith was the first man to achieve this incredible feat. The former Australia skipper had scored five consecutive fifties in the last edition of the World Cup.

India, meanwhile, will be desperate to see their skipper finally converting the fifty into a century today. Kohli has failed to reach the triple-digit mark even once in this tournament. With England piling up a mammoth total of 337, India desperately needs Kohli to deliver.

Earlier in the game, England rode on a century from Jonny Bairstow and fifties from Jason Roy and Ben Stokes to post a massive total. For India, Mohammed Shami impressed with the ball, picking up an impressive five wicket haul.

India, meanwhile, have a chance to seal their spot in the final four today. The Men in Blue, who are yet to lose a game in the competition, have accumulated 11 points from 6 games. India now need just a solitary point from 3 games to progress ahead. After the ongoing game, India will lock horns against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and will be confident of going ahead.

On the other hand, England are in a spot of bother. They need to win both of their remaining games to ensure a spot in the semifinal. In case they lost even one game, they are likely to depend on other results to make it to the last four. England have suffered three losses in the competition already including two back-to-back when they failed to chase down 232 and 285 against Sri Lanka and Australia respectively.
