Virat Kohli added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap after India thrashed Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in the first Test on Saturday. The hosts bowled out Bangladesh for just 213 in the second innings to wrap up the game inside three days. India took the command of the match right from day one despite losing the toss.

The home side bowled out the tourists for just 150 to put itself on the driver’s seat. In reply, they declared their innings after posting a mammoth total of 493 for 6. Mayank Agarwal starred with the bat, scoring 243 while Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja scored fifties. Bangladesh’s fortunes did not change in the second innings either.

Riding on Mushfiqur Rahim’s fifty, they did show some resistance in the middle but it did not make much of a difference as they were all out for just 213. Both the teams will now move to Kolkata for the second and final Test.

And with the win, Virat Kohli broke another record of his illustrious predecessor MS Dhoni. Virat Kohli became the Indian captain to lead the team to most wins by an innings. Under Kohli, India have won as many as 10 Tests by an innings with three of them coming in the last four games. India had beaten South Africa by an innings twice during the three-match series earlier.

Dhoni, on the other hand, led India to 9 wins by an innings. Kohli and Dhoni are followed by Mohammad Azharuddin and Sourav Ganguly. While Azharuddin had 8 innings win under his belt, Ganguly had seven.
