India registered their first-ever series win in South Africa with the fifth One-day International win in Port Elizabeth. The visitors under the dynamic leadership of Virat Kohli won the match by 73 runs and eventually registered the glory in the Rainbow nation.
The Men in Blue have taken an unassailable lead of 4-1 with just one more match left in the 50-over format – to be played in Centurion on Friday (February 15).

India’s top-order has been unstoppable throughout the series. India’s top three batsmen have scored a century in four of the five matches in the series. Virat Kohli scored a century in the first and the third ODI while Shikhar Dhawan scored a century in the fourth ODI.

Rohit Sharma who was the weakling in the Indian batting line-up on the tour also scored a century in the fifth ODI. India now won five of the last six matches they have played in the ongoing bilateral series.

The team members are proud of the way they have played in the series and took to social media platform to express their happiness.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli took to Facebook and wrote:
“It’s been a collective effort to create history. When three guys at the top are being consistent, the guys who get an opportunity every now and then might not click. I’m very pleased, it was another complete performance from us. They had the pressure of losing this series and we knew that. Its history and the guys have worked hard for it. Ever since the third Test in Johannesburg, it’s been a good time for us.”
