Virat Kohli Fantastic But He Is Lucky, Says Abdul Razzaq

While Virat Kohli continues to impress the world with an unprecedented consistency with his batting, former Pakistan allrounder Abdul Razzaq is one of the very few who are still not impressed by the India skipper. This is the second time in recent times that the ex-cricketer has undermined Virat Kohli’s batting abilities.
The India batting mainstay is currently the number one ODI and Test batsman in the world. The likes of Sourav Ganguly, Michael Vaughan, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and a host of former and present cricketers have called Virat Kohli the best batsman of this generation and understandably so. Virat Kohli is well ahead of his contemporaries if his records in all the three formats is taken into account.
While he is already regarded as an all time great in ODIs, he is looking to end his career as an all time great in Tests and T20Is too. He is currently the leading run-scorer in T20Is. In ODIs, he has scored more than 11,000 runs with the help of 43 tons while in Tests, he has scored more than 7,000 runs with the help of 27 tons. He has also scored 103 international fifties and is the only batsman with average of more than 50 in all the three formats.
But despite all these achievements, Abdul Razzaq believes that while Kohli is a fantastic player, he is lucky because of the support he gets from the BCCI. Well, only Razzaq can say what sort of luck is he talking about. Not only that, the former allrounder also said that Pakistan have players who can do better than Kohli.
“He is a fantastic player and there is no doubt about it. However, he is lucky as the BCCI supports him well and instills the confidence in him that any player needs to succeed. The respect he gets from his board is what probably inspires him to do well all the time and the results are there for all to see,” Abdul Razzaq told PakPassion.net.
“I do believe that even in Pakistan we have players who could become better than Virat Kohli, but they are neglected by our system which is a tragedy. In Kohli’s case, he has taken that confidence shown in him by the board and using his talent, repaid them with his performances,” he added.
Last year, Abdul Razzaq had said Virat Kohli is a consistent batsman but cannot be put in the same category as Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. He backed his claim by saying that there is a dearth of world-class players in modern-day cricket and there is no strength in depth for teams across the world, thus taking a dig at Kohli’s achievements.
