Indian skipper Virat Kohli is one of the most prolific batsmen in modern cricket. His fan base keeps on getting bigger and bigger with each passing day. The 29-year-old led India to its maiden ODI and T20I series win over South Africa in the rainbow nation. The legend of Kohli is not just limited to India, neighboring nation Pakistan is known to have some die-hard Kohli-fans as well.

Recently, during a Pakistan Super League match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators, a cricket fan was seen carrying a placard that read-

“We want to see Virat Kohli in PSL.” It shows the fandom he has achieved so far.

The PSL was staged in the lines of cash-rich IPL. While the IPL gathered massive success, same cannot be said about the Pakistan-based league. The ongoing third edition of the PSL, which is taking place in UAE, witnessed empty stands. The season started on February 22 with a grand opening ceremony at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board has kept a close watch on the illegal activities that have been associated with the league in the first two years. PCB’s anti-corruption unit and security teams have been on a strict look-out for such acts.

PCB keeps a close watch

“The website based in London is keeping track of all bets placed on the PSL matches from all over the world and if they notice or pick up any unusual betting patterns on the tournament they will report it to the PCB’s ACU with all details,” a board official said.

The board official also added that players would have to provide every detail before entertaining any guests.

“Players have also been told to provide all details of the guests they are meeting or if they intend to dine out,” he said.
