India has done really well across formats under the coaching of Ravi Shastri. The former India allrounder has been at the helm since 2017 and will remain at the position at least till 2021. He orchestrated an ODI series win in South Africa and Australia as well as a Test series win on Australian soil. India also won a Test in South Africa, England as well as an ODI series in New Zealand.
The Men in Blue won the Asia Cup last year and made it to the semifinal of this year’s World Cup. In July this year, Shastri was re-appointed as head coach which will see him hold the post till the T20 World Cup in 2021. India are at the top of ICC Test rankings for more than three years now and are looking almost unbeatable at the moment.

In the ongoing ICC World Test Championship, India are heads and shoulders above the rest of the teams. But despite his fine track, Shastri has not really got the respect he deserves. The fans have trolled him at every possible opportunity. What’s worse is that he is being called captain Virat Kohli’s ‘yes man’. The two share a great rapport and there is a notion among the fans and others that Shastri does not really hold much power in the team.
‘Ravi bhai doesn’t care’:
Virat Kohli has now himself spoken on the constant trolling and criticism that Ravi Shastri faces. The India skipper insisted that the coach does not get bothered about the ‘petty things’ on the outside. He also made it clear that his and Shastri’s unwavering focus is always directed on making the Indian team the best team of all time.
“All the things we spoke about, you know what was being spoken and said about Anushka as well. I think most of these things are agenda-driven. I don’t know whos why or what for, but to accept lies in that manner, it could not be anything else but agenda-driven.
“If it was random, one guy would write it and the others would not focus on it because it is not important enough,” Virat Kohli told India Today.
“In Ravi bhai’s case, he is luckily a person who doesn’t care at all. I mean a guy who has faced that attack (during his career) without a helmet and got runs there, he is not gonna be bothering about someone sitting at home and trolling him.
“Because if you want to troll a guy who has done that, Get Up, Go into that position, face those bowlers, do what he has done, and then have a debate with that guy. He is absolutely chilled out. He says our only focus is on how we can be the best team of all time,” he added.
