MS Dhoni might have remained away from hustle and bustle of international cricket but is has not taken the focus off him. The former India skipper scored a fighting fifty in the World Cup semifinal loss to New Zealand before taking a sabbatical from the game. He was expected to return to action at the start of India’s home season but the veteran is yet to don the Indian jersey again.
He missed the T20I series against South Africa and is more than likely to miss the T20Is against Bangladesh too. Recent reports also suggest that the selectors have decided to move on from MS Dhoni keeping in mind the next year’s T20 World Cup. Thus, there is absolutely no clarity over the future of the legendary cricketer. The cricketing world is busy guessing what would be MS Dhoni’s next step.
And it looks like India skipper Virat Kohli is also not sure about his predecessor’s future. Kohli was asked about MS Dhoni’s future while he was interacting with the media after India’s win over South Africa in the third Test on Tuesday. In reply, Kohli as usual did not speak much on the issue and gave a sarcastic reply to the journalist, saying:
“He is here, in the change-room, come say hello to him.”
Meanwhile, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly, who is set to take over as the new BCCI new president, has said that he would talk to selectors about MS Dhoni. Ganguly said that he would do so once he takes over as president.
“I will find out from the selectors when I meet them on October 24. We will find out what the selectors are thinking and then I will put forth my opinion,” Ganguly told reporters last week.
“We will have to see what Dhoni wants. I will also speak to him what he wants to do and what he does not want to do. Since I was not in the picture, it maybe a case that it’s not clear with me as of now. Now I am in a position to find out and then will decide on the way forward,” he added.
